The Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission approved a meter increase the other day. Ostensibly, this is to help the Tampa taxi drivers with the high price of gas. Time will tell. Will the higher prices kill off business? Will the companies raise our leases thinking we are making tons? Will the drivers ultimately gett the short end of the stick? I hope not. We really need the help in this case. The cost to operate these cabs is getting to the breaking point. Five dollars a gallon by summer will kill this business.
